Main Idea: Somali pirates attempt to "storm" the French navy's 18,000 tonne flag ship, after mistaking it for a cargo vessel.
Authors purpose: To inform the readers of the attack and its outcome.
Details: La Somme is a 525 foot command vessel and fuel tanker
* La Somme is the French command vessel in the Indian ocean
- it oversees the French air, land, and sea fighting forces
- fighting Somali pirates and hunting terrorist
* The pirates were aboard two ships when they open fired
* After realising their mistake the pirates tried to flee, but were pursued by french forces
* When they caught one of the "skiffs" they found 5 pirates but no weapons, food, or water
* One of the pirates boats got away
Summary: This mistaken attack on the French's naval ships has not been the first the Somali pirates. Just last year 130 merchant ships were attacked. I think these pirates need to study shipology a little so they can tell the difference when they attack. After the pirates figured out they attack the wrong ship they averted the scene as quickly as possible.
