Details: * A cat in Iowa has tested positive for H1N1 virus

* First time a cat was ever diagnosed with flu symptoms

* The cat has recovered

* Did not spread the virus to anyone

* Pets should be monitored because they are capable of catching the sickness

Summary: Finding out their cat has H1N1 virus can make the owner erupt in tears. Thankfully there are bactericide that can help the kitty survive. Once a full recovery is made the cat will once again be vivacity.

Blog # 6- Friday night lights

http://omg.yahoo.com/blogs/crush/friday-night-lights/241?nc

Main Idea: Hollywood's highest paid actor under the age of 16, Dakota Fanning living a semi normal life.

Authors Purpose: To show readers how a famous actress can also live the life of a real high school student.

Details: * Fanning is a member of the cheer leading team
* She was voted homecoming princess
* Enjoys hanging out with her girlfriends
* She seems very happy in living both lives
* Author hopes she does not turn out like Lindsay Lohan

Summary: Antefame Fanning lived a normal life, but now she has bi-lives. She keeps up her acting career as well as an active social life in school. Even with a career in show business she has not let her education erupt and disappear. Since she is a cheerleader Fanning is a contortionist for the team.

Blog #5- Eleven New "New Moon" Stills revealed

Main Idea: Explain how even though Robert Pattinson's character is not in the book much, his character will be in the movie as a hallucination of Kristen Stewart's character.

Authors purpose: The author tries to make sense of the things added to the movie "New Moon" that weren't in the book.

Details:

  • Kristen Stewart plays Bella Swan with Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen
  • Edward decides it is in Bella's best interest if he leaves her for good
  • With Edward gone Bella grows closer to Jacob
  • she uses "dangerous stunts to get Edward to come back as a hallucination
  • Bella goes to Italy to prevent Edward from killing himself.

Summary: With Edward being a supernatural character he has to hide who he really is. Bella swan can sometimes be a bit retrofashion and do things differently then the norm. Jacob Black is my least favorite character because he thinks he is ultraspecial! In the scene with Bella in Italy she erupts loudly for Edward to stop what is he about to do.

Blog # 4- Somali pirates attack French military flagship

http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20091007/wl_africa_afp/somalipiracyshippingfrance_20091007151820

Main Idea: Somali pirates attempt to "storm" the French navy's 18,000 tonne flag ship, after mistaking it for a cargo vessel.

Authors purpose: To inform the readers of the attack and its outcome.

Details: La Somme is a 525 foot command vessel and fuel tanker
* La Somme is the French command vessel in the Indian ocean
- it oversees the French air, land, and sea fighting forces
- fighting Somali pirates and hunting terrorist
* The pirates were aboard two ships when they open fired
* After realising their mistake the pirates tried to flee, but were pursued by french forces
* When they caught one of the "skiffs" they found 5 pirates but no weapons, food, or water
* One of the pirates boats got away

Summary: This mistaken attack on the French's naval ships has not been the first the Somali pirates. Just last year 130 merchant ships were attacked. I think these pirates need to study shipology a little so they can tell the difference when they attack. After the pirates figured out they attack the wrong ship they averted the scene as quickly as possible.

Blog #3- Hundreds feared dead Sumatran quake

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/10/01/2701374.htm

Main Idea: After a devastating earthquake in Sumatra, more than 1000 people are feared to be dead or trapped in the rubble.

Authors Purpose: To inform the world of the tragedy taking place in Indonesia.

Details:
- Only 75 deaths have been confirmed
- As of now there is no electricity
- There have been reports of fire burnings

- This earthquake is being compared to the quake in 2006 in Yogyakarta
* left 36,000 people injured
* left 1.5 million people homeless
- Reports that at least 80 students are trapped in one building

Summary: The earthquake in Sumatra has taken the world by shock. The people who live there have our sympathy, and our prayers. The way this article is written it seems as no life form is well enough to try and get to a phone. Seeing that technology is such a huge part of life the world is waiting for a call or even an e-mail to find out how may have died. Due to the fact that roads are closed to enter Sumatra, health officials and safety crews have been unsuccessful to go in and help.

Blog #2- Rain Put Georgia Areas Under Water

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/23/us/23rain.html

Main Idea: For the past couple days rain had been pouring down very hard in Georgia, causing the government to declare a state of emergency. When the situation gets this far out of control there is very little that can be done.

Authors purpose: Browns purpose is to inform the public of the serious impact a storm can have on a society.

Details: In just two days 15-20 inches of rain fell in Georgia
- Seven people have died
- The sewage plant flooded and was spewing sewage into the Chattahoochee River
- 17 major bridges are closed down
- The waters flooded both rural and urban areas
- Trisha Palmer (a meteorologist) said the flooding is far worse then the hurricane level damage in 2005

Summary: Rain has been coming down in Georgia since Monday. Although the storms are not biocidal the damage it is causing is serious. Lives have been lost, and many homes destroyed. The Chattahoochee River flooded 12 feet over its normal flood stage level. Rescue crews are spending too much time taking care of little emergencies for the simple fact that people are not be careful of where they drive or park their cars. People are being warned not to return to flooded areas, and to avoid driving through any water. These storms has turned a once utopia into a dystopia.
